odd encounters on a wednesday night yesterday evening, a group of 5 university students sitting on the darling harbour steps outside starbucks were approached by, and forced to converse with, several strangers. they remain immensely curious and confused as to the motives behind these people, and have been unable to deviate their thoughts from related ponderings as they vainly attempt to make sense of the entire matter. the first stranger approached the students at around 10pm, and performed an array of magic tricks largely involving a deck of cards and two small red balls. all were fascinated by his performance as not one could explain how his tricks were performed. one of the students, jennifer, was drawn to the conclusion that the stranger had supernatural powers. meanwhile it left another student paranoid, as matt reminded the group to check their wallets as the stranger left. the second encounter was brought about by two ladies. they sprung on the group and proclaimed an invitation, providing an explanation along the lines of a "rooftop housewarming party...just around the corner" as they were "Germans" and were "new to Sydney" and "would love to make new friends". sceptical though amused, the group humoured the two before rejecting the offer. the students were bewildered, however, as they noticed the women did not approach other people after they left. these events brought stimulus to meaningful discussions, and the group delved into topics such as telekinesis, cultural differences, and how the simpsons related to such fascinating areas of discourse. the students departed the area at around 11:30pm, and further observed more hobos as they made their way to central station.
