discussion launched into the phenomenum of the lack of bouncers at 飲み屋 (traditional japanese drinking places).. we came to the conclusion that the reason for this being japanese people tend to pass out when drunk and get carted home by their drinking buddies.. rather than get themselves involved in drunken brawls =DD
