rachel: why isn't serena coming?mint: she said she doesn't like teppanyaki.me: ehHH?? how can anyone NOT like teppanyaki?!
stupid question.
and yes, it was my first time.
never before has it been so much fun being humiliated in front of 20 odd people.
sounds a little crazy, but i thoroughly enjoyed having raw eggs chucked at me (which i missed), fried egg tossed into my mouth, bowls of hot fried rice thrown for me to catch.
obviously our sadistic chef took great pleasure in tormenting each and every one of us.. we got yelled at, burnt, food (both raw and right off the hot plate) blantantly thrown at us so that we'd miss and end up a mess.
highlights:
FIRE!! (and hiding under the table to dodge the heat)
some guy screamed. like a girl..
itch got rice all over his.. pants..
the fried egg onslaughts
rachel knocking some guy's forehead with a bowl
the sake [look people carefully in the eyes when you 乾杯.. otherwise disastrous consequences shall ensue]
in fact we loved our chef so much we spent a good 15 minutes afterward having a converstation while he was having a smoke..
him: hey are you gay?guy who screamed like a girl: YES CAN'T YOU TELL??
(something along those lines anyway)
and the food was fantastic.
**saturday: bbq @ coogee**
seemed like a while since i met up with arthur, jedi, taurus, etc..
great day.. relaxing, eye-opening (think: enoki mushrooms & fishballs)
and a hell of a lot of meat (again)
i just sat there and ate while the guys cooked. the guys went to play soccer with random others also (including avid japanese soccer fans) .. i ate some more ><" spent the rest of the evening sitting around george st cinemas easyway trying to think of a place to eat since we'd missed the session for the devil wears prada, and garfield 2 (oh.. damn..it....). we ended up at sushi train (at the cinema) .. where cat eventually managed to will the chefs to make her a raw beef sushi.
she also enlightened us with horrific tales of her life during homestay.. where her diet used to consist of a staggeringly high-in-fat-sugar-and-cholesterol 9 meals a day.. of pasta, (very buttery) mashed potato, steak, cake. EVERY.SINGLE.FUCKING.DAY.
her first impression of aussie tucker. brilliant.
familiar faces!! i'm loving these birthday gatherings/sghs reunions.. i have not seen christina, rajita, sonali, ying since high school seriously. it's almost getting to the stage where i'm forgotting their names ><
our chef was so cute!! he's like your meek 小男人 stereotype hahaha.. not as entertaining as the ichiban chef, but he tried pretty hard cracking jokes, making random comments, and uHH .. flirting with most of the girls .. *hmmm*
it was also a lot more democratic this time. humiliation was entirely your choice.. it ended up being a lot less messy, but also a tad less entertaining. there were no big flames, no frenzied egg onslaughts, he didn't make us torture each other.. and there was no sake =(
and christina has turned me off calpis water for eternity!! ><
